     Robert Downes was born on 29 January 1937. He married Ruth Evelyn Lewis, daughter of Peter Lewis and Barbara Margaret Dugdale, on 20 July 1963 at Llanllwychaiarn Church, Newtown, Powys. Robert Downes died on 13 April 2014 at age 77; as a result of a heart attack while driving on the motorway.
